Assistant Rigging Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Rigging Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the advance planning, customer communications, project coordination, and safe execution of rigging events and installations at venues. The Assistant Rigging Coordinator is accountable for the achievement of established performance metrics within Alpine Rigging’s strategic plan. Tactical responsibilities include pre-event CAD design and editing, performance of weight load calculations, deciphering of structural engineering data, and labor planning. Periodic scheduling and management of on-site labor to supervise team members and ensure that they are following established regulatory safety protocols and upholding Alpine Rigging’s operating procedures and ambassadorship standards.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES

Operations
  • Participate in pre-event meetings and periodic site visits to collect and organize rigging related data
  • Interpret structural engineering information and venue standards to ensure a safe rigging design
  • Create or edit pre-event CAD layout, to reflect all rigging and attachment elements
  • Perform pre-event weight load calculations on all suspended loads to ensure safety
  • Identify and escalate efficiencies, unresolved challenges, or operational needs to management
  • Support local area equipment deliveries, shop prep, and vendor supply pick-ups
Communications
  • Act as front-line ambassador for Alpine Rigging to manage project communications with event client
  • Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and technical expertise in each interaction
  • Provide timely, meaningful responses to internal and external customers to advance projects
  • Create and deliver regular reports on the status, needs, and next steps of projects
Safety & Equipment Compliance
  • With management, ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, fall protection standards, and safe worksite requirements
  • Escalate safety concerns, areas of improvement, or risk situations to management or client as appropriate
  • Ensure all equipment and load bearing devices are current in their inspections and match usage type
  • Confirm that all personnel are current in their certifications for any work to be performed
  • Provide recommendations of best practices where observed to enhance the project’s safety
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer’s guidance on equipment usage and inspections
On-Site Management
  • Periodically schedule labor and coordinate on-site project rigging team
  • With management, enforce and maintain a safe worksite and all pertinent requirements
  • Coordinate with cross-functional team members to ensure efficient project execution
  • Maintain technical documentation and disseminate as required for efficient implementation
  • Escalate concerns or challenges, in a timely manner, to management for resolution
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Coronavirus vaccination card
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 4+ Years of technical experience in the entertainment sector (ETCP Certification preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Vectorworks, Microsoft Office products, and virtual meeting apps
  • Aerial work platforms experience and certification(s) (preferred)
  • Experience with rigging automation systems (preferred)
  • Ability to travel 25%

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is generally performed in an office environment (home or shop) with moderately quiet conditions. This role will visit other work locations periodically for meetings, site visits, equipment handling, or other business purpose. Working times will include weekdays and may include evenings, weekends, or holidays. Professional attire and conduct are required at all meetings. This position may require up to 25% travel.
